UFOs are dangerous flying enemies found in the Ice Caves, the Worm, or the Mothership.
If the player is directly below, the UFO will shoot a plasma bolt straight down, destroying the first block it touches or dealing damage to any enemy.
UFOs can not fly downwards, so it is possible to trap them in an n-shaped rock formation.
Upon death, the pilot ailien will be ejected and parachute down toward the nearest land whilst the craft will fall to either side, exploding on any surface it touches.
Be very careful while killing UFOs with a boomerang, as the return flight of the boomerang can often drag the exploding ship all the way back to you. This is more common if the UFO is on the edge of the boomerang's range.
