The Jungle is one of the exceptionally dangerous second areas in Spelunky 2. Like most other areas, it is four levels long, and it leads to Olmec's Lair. It is not possible to visit both the Jungle and the Volcana in a single run.
Geography
The Jungle is a claustrophobic and dangerous area filled with dense vegetation and dangerous traps that can deal lots of damage if the Spelunker is not careful. The Jungle landscape is dotted with trees that can be climbed even without the Climbing Gloves. Furthermore, there are various places that Vines can be found growing from the ceiling, which can be climbed on like ropes. One of the levels will also randomly contain the secret entrance to the Black Market hidden behind some terrain which must be destroyed by a bomb or mattock. It is virtually impossible to find (except by incredible luck) without the Udjat Eye from the Dwelling.
Dangers
All Monsters and Traps (besides The Ghost) that can be harmful/hostile in The Jungle.
Notes:
- Shopkeepers, Tun, Parsley, Parsnip, Parmesan, and Sparrow will only attack you if you hurt them or try to steal something from them.
- You can avoid getting hit by Monsters that come out of Monster Pots by throwing Pots away from you instead of attacking them with the Whip or other melee weapons.
- Jiangshi, Jiangshi Assassins, and Vampires will only appear if you get the "The dead are restless..." feeling at the beginning of a level in the Jungle.
- Bees and the Queen Bee will only appear if you get the "You hear an incessant buzzing..." feeling at the beginning of a level in the Jungle.
- Monkeys and Leprechauns do no direct damage, but they can still knock you unconscious, rendering you vulnerable to other attacks.
