Terra "Mama" Tunnel is an NPC in Spelunky 2.

She builds shortcuts throughout the caves that are accessible through the Camp in lieu of her husband Manfred Tunnel, who is now a playable Spelunker.

After the first shortcut has been dug, she can be found standing in the Tunnel Family residence in the camp between runs.

Shortcuts

Mama Tunnel can build up to three different shortcuts:

• The first shortcut leads to directly below Quillback's arena in Dwelling 1-4, allowing easy access to either Jungle or Volcana.
• The second shortcut leads to the second floor of Olmec's Lair, which also contains the door to Tide Pool.
  • Olmec can be summoned from the first floor by tossing a rope up to the center of the room and climbing up it, triggering him.
  • The entrance to Temple of Anubis can be accessed by using all four bombs given at the start of the game or with Olmec to break through to the third floor.
• The third and final shortcut leads directly into the Ice Caves.

Shortcuts can be helpful for learning how to survive in certain areas or for completing certain objectives, although entering through a Shortcut means missing helpful supplies and/or quest items (such as the Udjat Eye) in previous worlds.

Using a shortcut also voids the Iron Man, Speedlunky, and Low Scorer Feats, as all disallow shortcuts.

Digging Shortcuts

In order to dig each shortcut, Mama Tunnel requires various equipment and items to complete them. She can be found in the level transition sequence after completing Dwelling, Olmec's Lair, or just before entering the Ice Caves for each respective shortcut.

Mama Tunnel cannot be helped during a Daily Challenge, in Online Multiplayer, or for the third shortcut if the player reached Ice Caves through Duat.

2. Any weapon except a Camera (eg; Boomerang, Shotgun)
