What makes the author so certain that fall damage is based on squares fallen, weapon usage, and cape/jetpack/parachute? I've assumed since Classic that fall damage is based on player velocity, which makes perfect sense since that's clearly how thrown weapons work, and since Game Maker handles that sort of thing very well. That assumption has kept me from hurting myself (in numerous ways) hundreds of times, so forgive my arrogance when I say I'm all but certain that fall damage is based on velocity.
