A Sticky Trap is a trap found in the Sunken City that behaves similarly to a Spikeball trap.
Behavior[]
When an entity gets within range and below a Sticky Trap, its eye will open before its "tongue" descends on the victim. The tongue moves and functions near identically to a Spikeball found in Volcana, and it may travel infinitely down a level if necessary and is climbable akin to a Rope.
A Sticky Trap's tongue has the same adhesive properties as a Web, typically forcing players to destroy the trap in order to retrieve any trapped creatures or items.
If a Spelunker or Hired Hand is hit by the sticky trap as it travels downward, they will be stunned for a considerable amount of time.
Due to the long stun time, if a player is caught and an enemy such as a Grub repeatedly triggers the trap, they may be infinitely stunlocked by it.
It is possible to "kill" a Sticky Trap by destroying its tongue with a Regenerating Block. This causes the eye to close indefinitely and the entire tongue to disappear.
Strategy[]
Sticky Traps are generally not hazardous on their own, but can be incredibly dangerous when combined with other hazards found in the Sunken City.
Sticky Traps are especially problematic if the player is carrying Hou Yi's Bow armed with the Arrow of Light, as items that get stuck in a Sticky Trap cannot be easily retrieved without destroying the trap.
