Spiders are an enemy that generate clinging to the ceiling in The Mines, and may occasionally be found hiding in pots.
They will drop from the ceiling when the Spelunker passes underneath them, even if there is a block between them and the Spelunker, and hop around in an unpredictable manner. They are easily dispatched with the whip or by stomping on them.
Bouncing off of Spiders can be useful for reaching areas above your usual jump height without needing Spring Shoes or a rope.
