Obtaining

Spike Shoes can be obtained in the following ways:

Functionality

Spike Shoes increase the user's stomp damage to three HP per stomp, instantly killing most common enemies. Enemies normally immune to stomp damage can be stomped as well, such as Quillback or Horned Lizards in their rolling form.

The more time the user spends off of the ground, Spike Shoes scale in damage.

This scaling damage resets if the user lands on the ground, clings to a ledge/wall, uses the double jump on Vlad's Cape, or activates a Jetpack. By contrast, damage scaling does not reset if landing on an enemy, using the Hoverpack, or gliding with a Cape, Parachute, or Vlad's Cape. This allows for fast killing of high health enemies by chaining stomps together or gliding/hovering in the air long enough to deal enough damage to instantly kill with a stomp.

Much like Spring Shoes, Spike Shoes prevent damage from stepping on Thorny Vine and the heads of Octopy. Uniquely, they also prevent the user from slipping on ice in the Ice Caves, instead treating them like a normal tile.
