The Powerpack is a Backpack in Spelunky 2.
Obtaining[]
Powerpacks can be obtained from the following sources:
Shops | Drops | Miscellaneous |
---|---|---|
Weapon Shops, Specialty Shops, Dice Houses | Yeti Queen (1% Chance) | Randomly buried in terrain |
Tun's Curio Shops | Crates (0.2% chance) | |
Caveman Shops (Rare) | Presents (4% chance) | |
Ghist Shops |
Functionality[]
The Powerpack grants the following powers when upgraded:
- Fire Whip - The player's whip is now on fire, dealing 1 whip damage + 1 fire damage. The +1 fire damage is able to damage whip-immune and stunned enemies, light torches, cook turkeys and burn jungle foliage/cobwebs.
- Increased Fire Rate - This is applied to most weapons, like the Shotgun, Camera, Freeze Ray, and even the Plasma Cannon.
- Reduced Recoil - The wearer can fire their weapon without being pushed back much or at all. Recoil no longer pushes the user off of ladders, and Plasma Cannon recoil no longer pushes the user off of Mounts. The reduction in recoil does however prevent the player from "gun-jumping" up an extra tile.
- Power Bombs - Makes the player throw giant Power Bombs, with a 1.5x explosion radius and a damage increase from 10 explosive damage + 1 fire damage to 20 explosion damage + 1 fire damage.
The Powerpack, just like all other backpacks, explodes if it catches fire or is punctured by an attack dealing 2 or more damage. Powerpacks in particular explode with the radius and damage of a Power Bomb.
Strategy[]
As it was designed for military use, the Powerpack shines the brightest in combat. Players can easily stun and finish off angry NPCs with their upgraded whip as well as obliterate anything in front of them with a Shotgun or other weapon.
- Croc Men become much easier to kill with the Powerpack. Whipping them still makes them teleport and ignore the 1 whip damage, but will then be stunned by the 1 fire damage.
- Powerpacks are an excellent item for the Jungle, as the wearer can burn Bush Blocks, Cobwebs, and kill Mantraps, who are weak to fire, with a single whip.
- Power bombs easily destroy large swathes of ground tiles, making them great for ransacking The City of Gold. Their doubled damage also effectively half the amount of bombs needed to defeat tankier enemies.
- All backpacks can be taken off by holding down and the "enter door" button, which can be used for when Power Bombs are undesirable or normal recoil is needed to perform a gun jump.
- This is helpful when opening Waddler's abode, as opening it with a Power Bomb destroys part of the structure and angers him.
