Kapala (Spelunky 2) | Kapala (Spelunky HD) | Kapala (Spelunky Classic) |
The Kapala is a power-up item in Spelunky 2.
It is awarded after reaching 16 favor at a Kali Altar. Presents from the Dwelling Ghist Shopkeeper may also contain a Kapala. These are the only two ways to get a Kapala in the entire game, though it can be Cloned to get more than 2 in multiplayer games.
Functionality[]
Touching blood droplets dropped from damaged entities before they disappear fills the Kapala. Blood from any source is acceptable, aside from the user's own blood.
After collecting seven droplets, the user receives 1 HP and the Kapala resets to its first stage, ready to be refilled again.
Blood Farming[]
The Kapala pairs well with Vlad's Cape and the Elixir. All entities hit by a player wearing Vlad's Cape drops twice as much blood, and the Elixir's buff makes a filled Kapala heal for 2 HP.
Mummies[]
Mummies vomit 6 drops of blood when attacking. It's possible to get into a place where the mummy doesn't stop attacking, but the player is safe from its attack flies. They can then heal for as much HP as time allows. This can be done in a couple of ways, including, but not limited to:
- If the player has Backwear, it can be taken off (by holding Down + the Enter Door button) in front of the mummy to use as a shield. The flies despawn after touching the dropped Backwear, keeping anyone crouched behind it safe.
- Holding a corpse will block the flies, allowing the player to stand directly in front of the mummy with no risk.
- If the Mummy is standing just over a ledge, standing under that ledge makes it attack. The flies go over the player's head while the blood falls straight into them.
- If you're hanging on this ledge instead of just being under it, there's a chance one of the flies will hit you. This is easy to correct, so long as the player isn't caught by surprise.
- A well timed backwards whip just in front of the Mummy can destroy all of the flies before they can hit you, leaving only the blood behind. This is not only unsafe and inevitably kills the Mummy.
Vampires[]
Vampires can heal off of blood much like a player holding a Kapala, albeit much more efficiently. Because of this, you can group up two or more of them into a pile and repeatedly throw an unbreakable item like a rock at them, which can produce an infinite amount of blood.
- This is easiest to do in Vlad's Castle, where Vampires have a high spawn chance.
- Hired Hand corpses have a higher pickup priority than stunned Vampires, which make them the best throwing item to blood farm Vampires with.
- With only two Vampires or without Vlad's Cape, much less excess blood is dropped and the trapped Vampires are more likely to die before they can heal with blood.
