Cat Mummies are an enemy exclusively in Spelunky 2. They spawn in Temple of Anubis.
Behavior[]
Cat Mummies spawn sitting still. If a Spelunker gets within 6 tiles horizontally of a Cat Mummy (even from behind), it switches to its movement state, running into their direction. Once activated, it runs and jumps around in erratic ways, off of ledges and bouncing off walls.
They have 1 HP and go poof if damaged, blowing two gusts of gray wind horizontally from where the cat died. This wind instantly Curses any entities it touches, but otherwise does not stun or deal damage.
Cat Mummies also have an extremely rare chance of approximately 1/1000 to drop a Diamond.
Strategy[]
Cat Mummies are closer to a bomb that needs to be defused than they are to an enemy that should be fought. It's best to prioritize them in most scenarios to stop them from causing further chaos down the line and to possibly curse nearby enemies, making them much easier to kill.
They're completely blind to players above or below them before they're activated, making it easier to kill them by stomping them from above or throwing/dropping an item on them from a distance.
