A full Dwelling level. The main path is entirely on the left side of the level.
Spelunky 2 has numerous level generation quirks, designed with the intention to keep it consistently possible to progress through the game to Tiamat's Throne without the help of extra resources like bombs or rope.
Introduction[]
Levels are made up of rooms, colloquially known as chunks. Rooms are 10x8 spaces of tiles that make up a specific pattern. A standard level has a size of 4x4, totaling to 16 rooms.
Rooms can have specific attributes assigned to them; certain Traps can have a guaranteed spawn, such as the Arrow Traps seen in the Moon Challenge. Some tiles can have a 50% chance of not being present, allowing for more variation of level generation.
Levels are split between the main path and side paths. The main path is intended to be the route from the level's entrance to its exit, and can be initially passed through without the help of resources. For this reason, the main path is nearly every situation able to be differentiated from side paths.

Side paths are all other rooms not making up the main path. Although they may have openings and similar generation, they ultimately do not lead to the exit, and simply exist to contain treasure and other valuable items.
