Lavamanders are large creatures found in Volcana. They only spawn in pools of lava.

Behaviour

Lavamanders will hide in pools of lava. When the player comes near, they will over the lava. If the player is still close, they will vomit a portion of the lava they're sitting in at the player. This can make them incredibly dangerous, since lava will instantly kill the player. Outside of lava, the Lavamander will turn purple and hop around trying to get back in lava. They cannot take damage from being stomped on in this state without spike shoes.

Strategy

It is almost always best to run past or Lavamanders or avoid them entirely when possible unless the player is trying to obtain their Journal entry. They drop ~$10,000 in rubies when killed, which the player will rarely be able to access due to being in lava when dropped usually due to the nature of the enemy.
