The Golden Door is an alternate exit that appears in the second level of the Temple (4-2). Taking this exit will lead you to the City of Gold.
Functionality[]
The Golden Door spawns on 4-2 and should always have a path from the entrance without needing the use of bombs (with the exception of broken level generation).
To open the door requires both of the following:
- The Hedjet, acquired by dying with the Ankh in the Ice Caves
- The Scepter, acquired by killing Anubis on 4-1.
Bringing the Scepter to the Golden Door without the Hedjet will result in the message "The Scepter fits, but nothing is happening"
Trivia[]
- There's a message in the game files reading "The key doesn't fit in this door", supposedly meant to be used when the player tries to use the Gold Key on the Golden Door.
Bugs[]
- If the Golden Door spawns on top of a Tiki Trap, the platform underneath the door will not spawn. This is not a problem if the Tiki Trap remains, but if it is destroyed then it means that the player has nothing to stand on to walk through the door.
- In this case, it is still possible to pass through the door by constructing a tower of push blocks to allow entrance, although this is not always possible and can be time consuming.
