Spelunky 2 has three different endings, depending on how far the player gets. The player either has to defeat Tiamat or Hundun for the main two endings. The final ending has the player complete all 95 levels of the Cosmic Ocean and reach 7-99, where they will become one with the cosmos and leave behind a Constellation.

Tiamat Ending

By defeating Tiamat on her throne, an exit door will open opposite of the side that the entrance door spawned on. Going through this door will complete the game normally.

In the ending cutscene, the player will walk down a long Neo Babylon themed hallway, before reaching a large circular room. Here, the Giant Statue of a golden snake around a jade plant with a pearl in the middle will be found. The ground will be shaking immensely, and the player character will fall down to the ground, stunned. The ship of Guy Spelunky and Tina Flan will appear, and by default Guy himself will come out of the ship. He picks the player up and takes them into his ship, before they escape together. A moment after the ship leaves the view of the camera, a large chain from the ship will descend and pick up the Giant Statue on it's way out.

As the spaceship exits the caves, the credits roll. Once the credits finish (or the player skips it), they will land back on the moon's surface beside the massive Olmec shaped rock, and Guy and the player character will jump out of the ship to meet every other playable Spelunker and Pet, who are celebrating their victory. Shortly after, the Giant Statue will come crashing down beside the party, increasing the player's total score by $100,000.

Ending S2

Completing the game this way will unlock Guy Spelunky as a playable Spelunker.

The Journal run recap will read, "Despite all odds, I defeated Tiamat and escaped to the surface."

Notes

  • The $100,000 from the giant statue will count towards the Millionaire Achievement, but not the Low Score Achievement.
  • In a Co-op game, only the first character will be stunned. While they will be rescued by whoever comes out of the ship, the rest of the player will simply walk in themselves.
  • If the player is playing as Guy Spelunky, Ana Spelunky will instead come rescue the player and bring them into their ship.
    • If Ana and Guy are present via a Co-op game, Tina Flan will appear to rescue the player instead.
      • If all three are present, a random Spelunker that the player has already unlocked will appear to save the player.

Hundun Ending

By destroying the heads of Hundun in his hideaway, an exit door will open opposite of the side that the entrance door spawned on. Going through this door will complete the game the hard way.

In the ending cutscene, the player will walk down a long Sunken City themed hallway, before reaching a large circular room. Here, a Gigantic Chest will be found. The ground will be shaking immensely, and the player character will fall down to the ground, stunned. The Olmec-Shaped spaceship that the player used to originally reach the Sunken City appears, and by default Classic Guy will come out of the ship. He picks the player up and takes them into his ship, before they escape together. A moment after the ship leaves the view of the camera, a large chain from the ship will descend and pick up the Gigantic Chest on it's way out.

As the spaceship exits The First City, the credits roll. Once the credits finish (or the player skips it), they will land back on the moon's surface beside the massive Olmec shaped rock, and Classic and the player character will jump out of the ship to meet every other playable Spelunker and Pet, who are celebrating their victory. Shortly after, the Gigantic Chest will come crashing down beside the party. It breaks open, launching coins all over. Inside are piles of coins and gems, as well as a limitless supply of whichever Pets the player has enabled jumping out of it. increasing the player's total score by $200,000.

Hardending

Completing the game this way will unlock Classic as a playable Spelunker.

The Journal run recap will read, "Amazingly enough, I defeated Hundun and escaped to the surface."

Notes

  • The $200,000 from the giant chest will count towards the Millionaire Achievement, but not the Low Score Achievement.
  • In a Co-op game, only the first character will be stunned. While they will be rescued by whoever comes out of the ship, the rest of the player will simply walk in themselves.
  • If the player is playing as Classic Guy, Guy Spelunky will appear instead.
    • If Classic Guy and Guy Spelunky are both present, Ana Spelunky will instead come rescue the player and bring them into their ship.
      • If Ana and Guy are present via a Co-op game, Tina Flan will appear to rescue the player instead.
        • If all three are present, a random Spelunker that the player has already unlocked will appear to save the player.

7-99 Ending

If the player manages to reach 7-99 of the Cosmic Ocean, a different ending from the previous two will play.

Upon reaching 7-99, the player will be in open space. They will drop any items they were carrying, including back items. They will then start spinning violently as their items begin coming back to them. Once the items return to the player, they will become a large Constellation, based off of what they did in their game. The credits will appear to the left of the constellation.

The latest Constellation that the player created will appear after looking through the telescope in the Camp, as well as in the previous two endings in the sky. Note that reaching 7-99 again will replace the previous Constellation that the player had.

The Journal run recap will read, "My skill, knowledge, and bravery allowed me to become one with the Cosmos."

Notes:

  • In a Co-op game, the other players will act similar to the items that the first character drops, before they come back to them and become a Constellation with them.
