In Spelunky 2, Death occurs when the player character runs out of HP, or becomes victim of an instant death attack. Death results in a Game Over (unless the player has the Ankh in their inventory), and the game results screen will display, describing how the player character was killed and a list of game statistics.
These statistics include the level the player died on, how much money they accumulated, and how long the game lasted.
From the Game Over screen the player has four options; to Quick Restart, placing the character right back to 1-1 of the Dwelling or the start of the Shortcut they initially took, to return to the Character Select screen to select a new Spelunker, return to the Camp, or exit to the title screen.
