The Boomerang is one good ranged weapon in the game, capable of killing most enemies from far away. Although they are not one of the powerful ranged weapon you can get, unlike the Shotgun , Scepter and the Plasma Cannon they are much easier to find early in the Jungle by stealing it from a Tiki man and are practically risk-free to use.
They can be found in several places. They may be sold in weapon shops, and also have a moderate chance of being found inside a crate. Tiki men in the Jungle carry a boomerang with them. So, it's easier to get one by simply killing them or stealing it from them. However, they carry torches instead on dark levels and are not found on Restless Dead levels .
Functionality
The boomerang can be thrown like a rock, but they travel on a straight trajectory (like object thrown with Pitcher's Mit) and return back to the thrower. They do 1 damage for every hit, but due to their returning ability, they might hit a enemy twice, thus doing 2 damage.
Most ordinary enemies will be killed with a single throw, but large, tough monsters can withstand several hits.
Unlike other weapons, it doesn't have a recoil, making it safer to use. They can also be thrown up, giving an advantage over other weapons. However, it's risky and not worthwhile to use it in the Ice Caves, because it may be lost if used to kill an UFO, and an UFO might get in it's way while returning causing the UFO to blast on your face.
